No. When you open a Matbia account, you can be sure that no money will be withdrawn from your account unless you have authorized Matbia to do so.
Matbia only processes withdrawals if:
- You create a manual deposit, or
- You set up a recurring deposit schedule, or
- You set up auto-replenish or decline prevention to avoid failed transactions
You can fund your account through several convenient methods:
The best way to fund your account is through an ACH transfer. You can also deposit funds with a check, or credit card via PayPal, wire transfer, and external DAF transfer. (Cash deposits coming soon!)
While you can fund your account through other methods, linking your bank account through ACH transfers is the option with the most advantages:
- Instant funding privileges: Although it takes 2-3 days for the transfer to complete, we allow you to make donations right away
- Lowest deposit minimum: With ACH, you can deposit just $20 at a time. The other deposit methods have a minimum of $50.
- Access to automations: Once your bank account is linked through ACH, you can set up recurring deposits, auto-replenish, and decline prevention.
- Online: Upload the check in the online portal. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- By mail: The check should be made payable to Matbia Charities

We don’t have a cash option at the moment. We are working on creating a cash and check dropbox, so it will soon be an option.
Instant funding is only available for deposits made via ACH transfer. For any other kind of deposit, it takes 2-3 days for the money to become available.
If you made a deposit via ACH and your funds are not available, it is most likely due to a failed deposit. Instant funding is automatically disabled after a failed deposit. Contact customer service at 718-333-1010 to reactivate this feature.

Matbia is 100% free for donors. Organizations are subject to a 2.9% processing fee for funds collected through Matbia.
Capped Donations mean that for any donation of $1,800 or more, transaction fees are fixed at $52.20. Every dollar donated above $1,800 goes entirely to the cause.
The processing fee is capped at $52.20 (2.9% of $1,800). Whether someone gives $2,000 or $20,000, the fee never goes higher than $52.20.
It makes every large donation more powerful. Donors know their generosity goes directly to impact — and organizations keep more funds to fuel their mission.
